Our Story
Why “Cleve”?
The name “Cleve’s” comes from my Great Grandfather Cleve, on my dad’s side of the family. He was a mechanic, a man who was always working with his hands, always fixing, building, or improving something in his shop. He also worked on the railroad back in the 1940s, a job that took grit, discipline, and a lot of physical work.
People often ask where I get my height from. In our family, that answer has always been Cleve. At 6’1”, he was the tallest man in our family for his time. Now, at 6’4”, I hold the family record. But what I really inherited wasn’t just the height. It was the work ethic, the mindset, and the respect for doing things the right way, even when no one is watching.
Growing up, I heard story after story about Cleve. Stories of a man who showed up early, stayed late, and took care of the people around him. From what I’ve been told, he was kind, steady, intelligent, and deeply devoted to his family. He wasn’t loud about it, it's just who he was. And that has always stuck with me.
Choosing the name “Cleve’s” isn’t just about honoring a family member. It’s about carrying forward the values he stood for: hard work, integrity, patience, and pride in what you create with your own hands. It honestly feels great to create something in his name, and I hope every bar of soap reflects the kind of man he was.
Our Process
Our soap is made in small batches using the cold process method. Every bar is mixed, poured, cut, and cured by hand. We produce only about 20 bars at a time, so we can lock in quality, consistency, and strength with every batch.
After cutting, each bar cures for a four-week period before it’s ready to use. This time is essential because it lets excess moisture evaporate and creates a harder, longer-lasting bar built to stand up to real work.
We appreciate your patience and support as we make real, natural soap. Small-batch production means you’re getting a fresh bar made with purpose.
